UAE Hosts the Arab Men’s and Seniors’ Golf Championship

(Ajman, United Arab Emirates) – The UAE is set to host the Arab Men’s and Seniors’ Golf Championship, organized by the Emirates Golf Federation in collaboration with the Arab Golf Federation, from November 20 to 22, 2024, at the Al Zorah Golf Club and Yacht Marina.

This championship is one of the premier sporting events in the Arab world, bringing together elite golfers from 13 Arab countries and featuring more than 80 players. Each country is represented by a team of four players in the men’s category and three players in the seniors’ category, alongside participants competing individually. The men’s teams will compete over three rounds, while the seniors’ teams will have two rounds, with the best scores from three players in the men’s category and two players in the seniors’ category determining the team results.

The participating countries include Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Jordan, Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, Lebanon, Iraq, and Palestine. This championship stands as a platform for athletic competition and a space for fostering camaraderie among Arab nations, as players aim to secure both team and individual titles while boosting the prominence of golf in the Arab world.

The event will take place at the Al Zorah Golf Course in Ajman, designed by Nicklaus Design. Known for its lush fairways and unique par-72 layout, the course is player-friendly for opening shots but presents significant challenges around the greens, particularly with the strategic influence of winds from the surrounding mangroves.

Major General Abdullah Al Hashmi, Vice President of the Emirates Golf Federation, stated:
“The Arab Men’s and Seniors’ Golf Championship is an exceptional opportunity that gathers the best Arab golfers in a sporting competition that reflects the spirit of cooperation and brotherhood among Arab nations. We are proud to host this event in the UAE and are committed to providing a distinguished competitive environment that highlights the growth of golf in the region.”

He added:
“The extensive participation of 13 countries demonstrates the growing popularity of golf in the Arab world. This championship is not just a sporting event but also an opportunity to enhance sports cooperation and inspire the next generation of Arab golfers.”

The Arab Men’s and Seniors’ Golf Championship is part of the Arab Golf Federation’s ongoing efforts to promote the sport in the region and encourage players to compete in international tournaments. It also highlights the significant progress Arab countries have made in developing golf through advanced infrastructure and modern training programs.
